No Kings Day: June 14 Is Just the Beginning

Today, June 14—No Kings Day—is more than a protest. It’s a declaration: we reject authoritarianism, we reject the glorification of power, and we reject any attempt to turn our democracy into a dictatorship.

As the administration and their allies embrace the language of kings and retribution, we show up to say: this is the United States, not a monarchy. Our laws, our rights, and our future belong to the people—not to any one man.

But June 14 is just the beginning.

Members of our community in LD17 have been at the forefront of many demonstrations and protests.  We show up!  However, we must continue raising our voices, attending rallies, speaking out at town halls, organizing our communities, and voting in every election. Authoritarianism thrives on silence and apathy. Democracy thrives when we stay loud, active, and engaged.

So let No Kings Day be your first step—or your next step—in standing up for our country. The road ahead is long, but together, we’re stronger than fear.  Be safe today and at every event.
