Turn your Angst into Action!

I know we’re all feeling pummeled by the news these days…….he did WHAT? He’s investigating WHO? He’s bombed WHERE? He put his name on THAT?

The cumulative effect of all these news stories is a deep-seated angst that our democracy will forever be changed by the Maniac-in-Chief. In response, we look for ways to protest and protect, including: the record-setting No Kings marches; the brilliant Tesla protests; and the ongoing anti-Ciscomani demonstrations. Together, these actions help us express our outrage and concern while showing America just how many of us are angry and alarmed.

Arizona’s State-Level Challenges
The turmoil is not limited to Washington. Arizona faces serious challenges in its own state legislature, which has been controlled by Republicans for more than 60 years and has allowed only a tiny number of Democratic bills to advance.

That legislature has also bypassed Gov. Hobbs’ vetoes by putting increasingly extreme measures on the ballot, including proposals that:
• threaten the right to vote by mail
• restrict access to reproductive health care
• impose unrealistic constraints on the state budget
• weaken public education funding, leaving Arizona 48th in the nation in per-pupil spending

But NOTHING will change until there is electoral change—at both the Federal and State levels. And that’s where we come in. 

Legislative District Democratic Committees are established under state law to help elect Democratic candidates to the Arizona House and Senate. To do that effectively, we need volunteers on the ground—people willing to knock on doors and connect with targeted voters. Our district is the largest in Arizona by voter count, with about 185,000 active voters. Before November, we hope to reach as many as 75,000 persuadable Democratic, independent, and even Republican voters. That is a huge task, and it requires a strong volunteer effort.

Why Your Participation Matters
We truly need your help. While only a few people love canvassing, many of us do it because it is one of the most effective ways to persuade voters to support our candidates. And you may be surprised by how receptive people can be—some neighbors are genuinely glad to see a volunteer at their door and are reassured to know others in the community share their concerns.

But we need you NOW! Because we need to reach so many voters, we have been door knocking for months, first with the candidate petitions and now with the Protect Ed and Protect the Vote petitions. We will continue to knock doors all the way to November, but we need to pick up the pace to reach the all people we need to talk to. 

How You Can Help
Please join us in whatever way you can:
• Canvass in your neighborhood.
• Recruit volunteers who are willing to knock doors.
• If canvassing is not possible, help with other tasks such as writing postcards or making phone calls.

You are a vital part of this campaign. The change we want to see in Arizona starts with you. With your help, we can elect our three candidates, flip the Arizona legislature, and build the kind of practical, responsible government our state deserves.
