Tabling Team Update - Back at the Rec Center

New mission, new sign… and maybe a new vibe.

After a five-month hiatus due to construction and grounds changes, our tabling team has returned to the Oro Valley Community and Recreation Center—and it’s been a warm welcome back. Many people remembered us, stopped to say hello, and shared how glad they were to see us again.

The Rec Center continues to draw a larger and more diverse crowd than the library, giving us valuable opportunities to connect with Independent and Republican voters. As always, some folks pass by, while others—especially seasonal “snowbirds”—offer encouragement even if they’re unable to sign petitions.

Our current focus is gathering signatures for the ESA (Voucher) Accountability Act Petition. Encouragingly, many visitors are already familiar with the issue and eager to sign. We’re also continuing to carry the Justice for All petition and distributing No Kings III flyers.

Our new sign has been a hit. One passerby hurried over and said, “When I saw the word ‘Decency,’ I knew it was a Democratic table!”

And about that “new vibe”—despite discouraging news overall, there’s noticeably less sense of dejection on our side. Meanwhile, the tone of negative comments has shifted. Where we once heard flippant or cocky remarks, the few critical voices we hear now sound… different. More subdued. Is it concern? A change in the political climate? Or just wishful thinking? Time will tell.

Looking ahead, every area of LD17 will need more tabling volunteers as we approach the election. With candidate literature and voter guides on the way, this is a crucial opportunity to engage voters and make a real impact—including helping flip two additional state legislative seats.

Want to get involved? We’d love to have you join us.
