Petitioning: The Easiest—and Most Enjoyable—Political Work You’ll Ever Do

That’s the verdict from our LD17 volunteers, who have been busy gathering signatures for the ESA school voucher accountability petition. Not long after, a second petition supporting Free and Fair Elections—protecting mail-in ballots, early voting, and voting centers—joined the effort. Both have been incredibly well received and are often signed together.

Voters are paying attention. Many already know about the voucher issue and are concerned about its impact. A large number of signers are current or retired educators; others proudly share that they’re products of public schools. Even some Republicans have added their names—proof that this is less about party and more about responsible use of taxpayer dollars.

The goal is ambitious: 256,000 valid signatures by July 2. With time short, this is truly an all-hands-on-deck moment.

The good news? Petitioning has been a genuinely positive experience. Volunteers are consistently met with smiles, encouragement, and heartfelt thanks for simply showing up and doing the work.

To reach more voters, we need more volunteers at our tables—especially in Marana, where a second location could open with enough help.

If you’re looking for a meaningful, people-centered way to support public education in Arizona, this is it. Whether you’re a retired educator or just someone who cares about the future of our schools, we’d love to have you join us.
