Did You Know?

Did you know helplessness, fear, and even numbing despair are relatively common these days? You are NOT alone given the widespread questionable tactics of Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers and other threats to our democracy. Some of us have turned off all sources of news. I wish that worked, but it doesn’t stop the assault.

Did you know there is a fix for some of this funk? ACTION is the secret cure. Protesting has brought people together and effective attention to the corruption and abuse of power. Calls to your Congressional representatives are counted; so the more calls you make, the more power they have. Of course, donating to local candidates or organizations doesn’t take a lot of time or energy, but it sure makes a difference. For instance, the work we do here at Legislative District 17 requires resources for volunteer snacks, handouts, postage, and more. Canvassing is a great opportunity to talk with your neighbors. Physically limited? Then calling, creating canvassing packets, writing post cards, supporting canvas operations, planning social events, or serving on committees are some of the volunteer opportunities. Here is the link to sign up to volunteer. If you can help us with these expenses, particularly on a recurring monthly basis, click here.

Another thing we can all do is encourage employers, co-workers, businesses, education leaders, church members, foundation leaders, and others in leadership roles to stand up and speak up. Their businesses and organizations are on the line if the slide away from law and order continues.

ACTION is needed and is the antidote to our fears, but it’s more than that. It’s FUN!
