Meet Edgar Soto, Arizona Senate Candidate

LD17 Democrats is excited to announce the candidacy of Edgar Soto for the Arizona Senate.

Edgar Soto is a lifelong Tucsonan, educator, veteran, and community leader. He currently serves as Vice President at Pima Community College, overseeing the Desert Vista Campus. Edgar also serves as Chair of the Southern Arizona Sports, Tourism, and Film Authority and chair of the Lapan College & Career club.  He also serves on the southern Arizona Hispanic Chamber of commerce board and the national football foundation board the southern Arizona chapter.

Edgar attended local public schools and graduated from Tucson High School in 1987. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of New Mexico, a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Education from the University of Arizona, and a Master’s Degree in Multicultural Education from Northern Arizona University. He is also a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

For more than 28 years, Edgar has served Pima Community College in a wide range of leadership and frontline roles, including Head Baseball Coach, K-12 Outreach Coordinator, Sports Marketing Coordinator, Adjunct Faculty, Executive Director of Athletics, Dean of Fitness and Wellness, and Dean of Arts and Humanities. Throughout his career, he has focused on expanding access to education, strengthening workforce pathways, and helping students complete credentials that lead to good jobs and meaningful lives.

Edgar is deeply involved in the community, serving on numerous nonprofit and civic boards, mentoring young people, and working to bring economic development opportunities to Southern Arizona. He is a strong advocate for public education, workforce development, veterans, and policies that create opportunity while being fiscally responsible.

Grounded in service, collaboration, and results, Edgar Soto believes that when we invest in people, education, and smart economic growth, our communities thrive and everyone benefits.
