Did You Know?

Did you know we all need to act like a football team?  I don’t mean we should literally go down the street and physically slam to the ground every person who says or does things we don’t like.  Several characteristics we can borrow from our favorite football team are:

Have Courage:  Can you imagine you’re a 190 pound guy running with the ball and two 275 pound guys are ready to tackle you?  It takes courage to keep running for every last inch of forward progress.  The current assault on our democracy and outright intimidation call for us to dig deep and find our courage.  As our LD17 shirt says, “BE BOLD – STAY STRONG.”

Keep Your Eyes on the Ball:  Every player knows you must  keep your eye on the ball to catch it and score a touchdown, and you must score more than your opponent to win the game.  It’s easy to lose sight of our goals when every day there is a new disruptive story.  Like the football receiver, we do need to be aware of what’s going on around us, but then we take actions toward making LD17, Arizona, and our country a better place for everyone.

Teamwork: When sportscasters interview individual players, they almost always talk about playing for each other.  When they’re on the field, good communication and a shared goal makes them all successful.  There’s always room for improvement, but LD17 has a very active, functional, and fun team.  We don’t call them quarterbacks or receivers or tackles, but we need all sorts of position players on our field of operation.  Come play with us.
