Did You Know?
All Arizona Republican congressional representatives voted to pass the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” including Juan Ciscomani. Despite claiming he would not vote to cut Medicaid, he did just that. He voted for this big, ugly budget bill, which cuts medical and food aid to millions of working-class people and gives big tax cuts to the wealthy. Every Arizona Democratic congressman voted against the bill, because it hurts working class Arizona families to benefit the wealthy.
Additional features of this big, ugly bill are:
It raises interest rates as a result of increasing the national debt by over three TRILLION dollars
It reverses much of our progress to combat global warming by killing clean energy incentives and electrical vehicle tax credits
It eliminates most options for repayment of school loans
Certain workers who receive tips or overtime pay will be able to deduct some of that pay from their income, depending on their total income – but only until 2028
It increases paperwork and eligibility requirements for people who are enrolled in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidized medical insurance
The wealthiest will take home most of the tax cut money, and the lowest income earners will receive almost enough for one dinner at McDonald’s for a family of four
Rural hospitals, such as the one in Bisbee, will struggle to stay open due to the Medicaid and ACA cuts. Many will close, leaving rural residents without local emergency care
School voucher “donation” tax credits in the bill will accelerate the depletion of our public school system, resulting in lack of educational opportunities in lower income neighborhoods and rural areas
These are just a few of the impacts Arizonans will experience thanks to Juan Ciscomani and our other Republican congressmen. They took care of their wealthy benefactors, but they sure didn’t take care of their voters.
