Good News: More Young Democrats

A Star is born…

Alexandra Wright says she has always been interested in social justice and environmental issues. Pursuing her interests led her to a degree in Environmental Studies from Gettysburg College. “Frustrated” that societal change wasn’t happening in real time, she decided to chart her own course in life and career and activism, working hard to make it happen, because, she says, “I’m not a princess.”

The specter of Trump possibly winning in 2020 motivated her to become more deeply active in politics. Her working career in politics began in Pennsylvania with phone banking and door knocking. After moving to Tucson in 2021, responsibilities rapidly grew from being a field organizer for League of Conservation Voters, to Regional Field Director running the Tucson office, and Statewide Deputy Project Manager. In 2024, she was the statewide Project Director for both Reproductive Freedom for All as well as the League of Conservation Voters. Currently, she is managing Sadie Shaw’s campaign for Ward 3 of the Tucson City Council. Her organizational experience, managerial skill, knowledge, and work ethic are impressive in one so young.

These are just some of the attributes that make Alexandra so valuable to our organization. She was the perfect candidate for the role of Data Lead on the LD17 Board. Her goal here is to make all data that comes through LD17 as cohesive, streamlined, and effective as possible. In this she more than succeeds. But there is much more. Other board members and volunteers consider her the consummate team player. With affection and respect they describe her as “energetic,” “patient,” “helpful,” “fresh and bursting with ideas and skills,” “super smart,” and “kind.” Alexandra not only works diligently behind the scenes, but she “shows up for everything.” So while she might describe herself as “not a princess,” she is definitely a shining star! And for now, she is ours. Remember her name.
